Franklin Educational Trust was founded in 2007 by Mr. G.H. Dar out of deep concern for the neglected conditions of the people in this part of the town. Its primary aim is to uplift the standard of education and develop proper infrastructure in areas that had long been overlooked by the privileged sections of society

Being the first of its kind in the region, the Trust is dedicated to establishing institutions of higher studies and professional training, while also identifying and nurturing talent among the underprivileged - particularly those from labour and other backward communities. The Trust is duly registered in court documents

and recognized by the Government and the University of Kashmir Within a short span of just two and a half years, it successfully established the Franklin College of Education at Gousabad Chinkipora, Sopore to run B.Ed Course. The Trust has also received recognition to run the M.Ed. course, with university-level affiliation presently under process.
