About Us :

Franklin Education Trust was established in 2005 by Mr. G. H. Hassan Dar, a visionary educationist from a humble background. With his lifelong earnings, he dedicated his land and assets to a noble cause-imparting higher education and teacher training in Sopore. The Trust was named after two eminent personalities, Benjamin Franklin and Franklin Roosevelt, symbolizing wisdom, leadership, and service to humanity.

After overcoming immense challenges and hardships, the college was formally accorded approval in September 2007. Since then, Franklin College of Education has grown steadily, establishing itself as a reputed institution in North Kashmir. Guided by the Founder Trustee's vision, the college aims to create a hub of higher learning in Sopore, reducing dependency on Srinagar for advanced education, and ensuring quality training for future educators.

Infrastructure and Facilities :

Building No. 01 - For B.Ed. Course
=> Classrooms: 4 classrooms of 20' x 30' and 4 classrooms of 24' x 20', each with seating for 60 students, fully electrified and well-ventilated.
=>Library & Reading Room: One room of 20' x 30', fully electrified and well-ventilated.
=>Conference Hall: One hall of 40' x 30', with proper seating, LCD projector, and modern facilities.
=>Computer Laboratory: One room of 20' x 30' with 24 high-configuration systems, LAN connectivity, Wi-Fi, and broadband.
=>Science Lab & Psychology Lab: Two rooms of 15' x 23' each, fully functional for practical learning.
=>Chokidari Hut: Separate hut for security staff at the main gate.
Building No. 02 - For M.Ed. Course
=>12 rooms fully available for M.Ed. course.
=>Two rooms currently used for:
(i) Principal's Office (20' x 15')
(ii) Staff Room (20' x 15')

Students' Amenities & Support Services :

Location & Community: Students come from Sopore and surrounding villages (Adipora, Jalalabad, Dangerpora, Warpora, etc.), while a majority (70%) come from other states like Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Punjab. The college enjoys an excellent reputation for strong student-teacher relationships and superb academic performance.
Educational Tours: Annual educational tours to enhance learning beyond the classroom.
Student Grievance Cell: A dedicated cell to ensure student concerns are resolved fairly and promptly.
Hostel Facilities: Comfortable and secure separate hostel facilities for male and female students in rented buildings near campus.

Academic Programmes :

Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) Comprehensive training for aspiring educators with a focus on pedagogy, critical thinking, and innovative teaching.
Intake Capacity: 100 students per academic session.
Master of Education (M.Ed.) An advanced training programme with full infrastructure support. This course has already been granted by the Government, and its affiliation at the University level is under process. The college is very soon going to initiate its regular run.
